REGOLAMENTO

RULES AND REGULATIONS (English translation at the end)

1. ORGANIZZATORI

Monsters – Fantastic Film Festival è organizzato da “Brigadoon – Altre storie del Cinema”, Associazione di Cultura Cinematografica di Taranto aderente al Centro Studi Cinematografici (Roma).

2. OBIETTIVI

Monsters – Fantastic Film Festival si propone di offrire uno spazio di approfondimento e di confronto sul cinema fantastico nazionale e internazionale in tutte le sue declinazioni, dando rilievo a tutti gli aspetti storici, sociali e culturali ad esso legati.

3. DATA E DURATA

La VIII edizione di Monsters – Fantastic Film Festival si svolgerà a Taranto dal 27 al 31 ottobre 2025. Nelle date precedenti e seguenti potranno svolgersi degli Eventi destinati ad approfondire le tematiche del Festival e promuovere ulteriormente i film selezionati.

4. SEZIONI DEL FESTIVAL

La programmazione del Festival si compone delle seguenti sezioni: Concorso Internazionale Lungometraggi, Concorso Internazionale Cortometraggi, Concorso Internazionale Monsters Kids, Vortex (non competitiva), Retrospettive e Sezioni tematiche in via di definizione.

5. CONCORSI E PREMI

5.1) La selezione dei film avviene a cura e giudizio insindacabile della Direzione del Festival ed è orientata al Cinema di genere fantastico in tutte le sue declinazioni.

5.2) Sono ammessi al Concorso Internazionale Lungometraggi tutti i film di durata superiore ai 60′, terminati dopo l’1 settembre 2024. La data della prima proiezione pubblica è determinante. Criterio preferenziale per la selezione sarà la proiezione al Festival in Prima Nazionale. Sono ammessi in concorso solo film in Prima Regionale. La Direzione del Festival nominerà una Giuria composta da almeno tre esperti altamente qualificati, incaricata di assegnare i seguenti premi:

  • Premio Monsters per il Miglior Film
  • Premio Monsters per la Regia
  • È consentita una Menzione Speciale, da assegnare per il Contributo Artistico
  • Non sono ammessi premi ex aequo

5.3) Sono ammessi al Concorso Internazionale Cortometraggi tutti i film di durata inferiore ai 20′, terminati dopo l’1 giugno 2024. La data della prima proiezione pubblica è determinante. Sono ammessi in Concorso solo film in Prima Regionale. La Direzione del Festival nominerà una Giuria composta da almeno tre esperti altamente qualificati, incaricata di assegnare i seguenti premi:

  • Premio Monsters per il Miglior Cortometraggio
  • Premio Monsters per la Regia
  • È consentita una Menzione Speciale, da assegnare per il Contributo Artistico
  • Non sono ammessi premi ex aequo.
  • Una selezione di film del Concorso individuata a insindacabile giudizio della Direzione parteciperà all’assegnazione del Premio Giuria Studenti – Pricò – Il cinema è giovane

5.4) Sono ammessi al Concorso Internazionale Monsters Kids tutti i film di durata inferiore ai 15′, terminati dopo l’1 giugno 2024. La data della prima proiezione pubblica è determinante. Sono ammessi in Concorso solo film in Prima Regionale. Una Giuria di bambini di età compresa tra i 5 e i 12 anni assegnerà il

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. ORGANIZERS

Monsters – Fantastic Film Festival is organized by “Brigadoon – Other Cinema Stories,” a no-profit Association of Cinema Culture in Taranto (Italy), which is a member of Centro Studi Cinematografici (Rome).

2. OBJECTIVES

Monsters – Fantastic Film Festival aims to offer a space for in-depth study and discussion on national and international fantastic cinema in all its forms, emphasizing all the historical, social and cultural aspects related to it.

3. DATES

The 8th edition of Monsters – Fantastic Film Festival will be held from 27th to 31st October 2025. On the preceding and following dates, Events may be held to deepen the Festival’s themes and further promote the selected films.

4. FESTIVAL SECTIONS

The Festival programming consists of the following sections: International Feature Film
Competition, International Short Film Competition, International Monsters Kids Competition, Vortex (non-competitive), Retrospectives and Thematic Sections to be determined.

5. COMPETITIONS AND AWARDS

5.1) The selection of the films is made by the undisputable decision and judgement of the Festival Management and is mainly oriented towards Cinema of the Fantastic genre in all its forms.

5.2) Entry to the International Feature Film Competition is open to feature-length films (longer than 60′), which were completed after September 1st, 2024. Preferential criteria for selection will be the National Premiere screening at the Festival. Only Regional Premiere films are eligible for the Competition. The Festival Management will appoint a Jury of at least three highly qualified members to award the following prizes:

  • Monsters Award for Best Film
  • Monsters Award for Best Director
  • A Special Mention is allowed, to be awarded for the Artistic Contribution.
  • No ex aequo awards are eligible.

5.3) Entry to the International Short Film Competition is open to films under 20′ in length, which were completed after June 1st, 2024. The date of the film’s first public screening is determinant. Only Regional Premiere films are eligible for the Competition. The Festival Management will appoint a Jury of at least three highly qualified members to award the following prizes:

  • Monsters Award for Best Short Film
  • Monsters Award for Best Director
  • A Special Mention is allowed, to be awarded for the Artistic Contribution
  • No ex aequo awards are eligible
  • A selection of films from the Competition chosen at the sole discretion of the Direction will participate in the awarding of the Student Jury Prize – Pricò – Cinema is Young

5.4) Entry to the International Monsters Kids Competition is open to films under 15′ in length, which were completed after June 1st, 2024. The date of the film’s first public screening is determinant. Only Regional Premiere films are eligible for the Competition. A Jury of children between the ages of 5 and 12 will award the
